– that inevitable aspect in each of our daily lives that assists us in being functional human beings. It’s that voice that whispers in your ear first thing in the morning telling you exactly what to expect from the day. Each person’s routine is unique in its own special way. Mine- wake up, walk to the kitchen, fill up a glass of water and shuffle to the bathroom. It takes me about 18 minutes to shower, 15 minutes to do my makeup and 10 minutes to transform that unruly frizz to the long loose curls that make me look like somewhat of a professional. Routine helps us to feel that our time here on earth is just that- ours. It gives us control and with…
Applied Imaging, Michigan’s premier independent office technology dealer entered into a partnership with Royal Oak’s ArborOakland Group, one of Michigan’s largest commercial printers. When they completed the transaction for the state’s first Ricoh Pro C9110 Color Production Press the first week of September, it was a week prior to Ricoh’s official launch. With volumes up to 1.7 million impressions per month, speeds up to 130 pages per minute and 1200 x 4800 dpi, the Ricoh product has joined the segment 6 color market to replace high volume Kodak, Xerox and HP products. Scott Gurke, the Applied Imaging representative, and Dave Hamilton, the ArborOakland Group representative who engineered the placement, felt especially positive about the agreement since this is very competitive environment to succeed in and…

When I was little, there was always one thing I would do every time I visited my grandma’s house. I would make my way into her basement and steal some paper from her dot matrix printer, carefully rip the perforated edges off, and make fun doilies out of them. But what makes that printer different than the printers we have today, and why did it have those weird perforated edges?
A while back, I wrote a blog post about when we recycled almost 800 printers. Well, what would have happened if we hadn’t recycled them responsibly? In the city of Accra, Ghana, the West African nation’s capital, there is an electronic waste dump called Agbogbloshie. Here, young boys pull apart old electronics and burn them to remove any metals they can sell. It’s incredibly dangerous and hazardous to their health. In fact, many of the boys who have spent a lot of time at Agbogbloshie have started to die much younger than boys who haven’t. That’s why Applied Imaging is committed to making sure old printers and copiers that are returned to us are recycled responsibly. We partner with local organizations who take apart the…
With an increased attention on climate change, printers seem to be used less and less. However, it seems to me that printers are simply being used more creatively. Take, for example, this case study from Canon. The wide-format iPF 8400 were used extensively on the set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, both on and off camera.
