[2 Minute Read] – The Benefits to a Shredding Service

Since all businesses are not the same, shredding needs vary from business to business.  Some businesses will pile up paper work over time and some will only take a few days or due to the sensitivity of their documents will need removal much sooner. That’s where scheduled shredding comes in. Scheduled shredding is a great option intended to simplify destruction of sensitive material that needs to be removed regularly. A dependable and flexible shredding schedule will help you stay on top of your document destruction needs.

Benefits of a Shredding Service

Enables Productivity:

Depending on your office shredder, it’s safer than simply throwing your unwanted documents in the trash. But it still takes time to fully follow through with the process from beginning to end. Shredding files and single documents can take several minutes to complete the process.

Reduced Liability:

You do not want to take legal responsibility to uphold privacy standards for the information you may handle lightly. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACTA), just to name a couple federal laws, enforce standards for maintaining information privacy during the disposal process.

Protecting your Reputation:

Your business reputation is one of your most prized assets. If your documents aren’t properly destroyed, they may fall into the wrong hands, compromising the trust of your clients. It doesn’t take long for a privacy breach to become a news headline.

4 Main Steps In Recurring Shredding:

1. Setting up scheduled service

Schedules are created built around the individual customers’ needs and can be set up on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis.

2. Delivery of your Shred Consoles

Once you have identified your schedule, a representative from ShredHub will come on-site and deliver your locked console(s) or tote(s).

3. Use of your Consoles

In between service visits, all paper material that needs to be destroyed are placed in secure, locked consoles, where it waits for destruction on your next scheduled visit.

4. Destruction of your documents

Lastly on your scheduled service day, a service technician will come on-site and either gather all of your material for offsite destruction, or destroy all material onsite in a shred truck. Once completed, a certificate of destruction is signed and retained by both the customer and our service tech prior to leaving the facility to ensure security and completion. Then, this process will repeat itself for the duration of the agreement.
