Our Culture

For a business owner and his or her management team, there’s no greater achievement than having employees acknowledge your company as a great place to work. The National Association for Business Resources has named Applied Imaging a multiple winner of its prestigious National Best and Brightest Companies to Work For and the Michigan Business & Professional Association has recognized Applied Imaging as one of Metro Detroit’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For.

Those accolades from Applied Imaging’s employees are a manifestation of an internal culture that began in 1987, the year Applied Imaging was founded. We call it Applied Chemistry. With its 11 Elements of Success, Applied Chemistry focuses employees on always making decisions that benefit the client, understanding their role in the bigger picture, the importance of giving back to their communities and most importantly, having fun.

We are hiring

If you’re looking for a career in a fast-paced, technology-driven industry, not just a job or a paycheck, Applied Imaging is interested in you. The following are current job opportunities at Applied Imaging, but with our growth, new opportunities are always surfacing, so feel free to check this site periodically.

Office Life

Applied Imaging offers a full benefit program including top-notch medical, dental, and life insurance. In addition, we contribute to employee retirement funds, with options for higher contributions through friendly competitions around the office. We also offer many other benefits, including paid holidays, vacation days, supplemental life insurance, disability insurance, and flex spending.

Company Meetings

Four times a year, the entire staff of Applied Imaging gathers at the corporate headquarters in Grand Rapids for a company meeting. These meetings allow everyone to remain up-to-date on the happenings within the company. Speakers range from executives within the company to motivational speakers like Mike Riordan and Matthew Kelly. In addition, the meetings offer an opportunity for employee recognition.

Tailgate Bash

Every year, on the Friday before the University of Michigan vs. Michigan State University football game, we shut down our Grand Rapids and Metro Detroit offices for our annual Tailgate Bash. We bring in clients for special performances, gifts, catered food, and drinks so they can meet everyone on staff and get to know the Applied Imaging family on a more personal level — while tossing around some friendly trash talk.

Competitions & Secret Santa

We have several competitions throughout the year, with four major competitions between each company meeting. Staff members are divided into teams based on sales and service members, and the team that wins the competition each quarter gets a reward ranging from catered breakfast at the office to a day at the Lowery cottage. In addition, every July and December, employees are invited to participate in an inter-office Secret Santa.

Breakfast & Lunch

Applied Imaging provides free coffee, regular and decaf, each morning for all employees. In addition, Applied Imaging President John Lowery also hosts a presidential breakfast each month with a small group of employees to get to know everyone in the company on a more personal level. Employees are encouraged to take an hour break for lunch to refuel and re-energize for the second half of the work day.

Wheel of Excellence

At each of our quarterly company meetings, we take the time to thank the employees who have been recognized by clients and coworkers for going above and beyond the expected level of service. Each recognized employee is invited to spin the Wheel of Excellence, which has gift cards and other rewards taped to it. The ultimate prize is a Big Applause, where the entire company gives the employee a large — and loud — standing ovation.

Staff Outings

Throughout the year, we get together outside of the office for fun outings. These outings range from sporting events — including the West Michigan Whitecaps and the Detroit Tigers — to relaxing day trips to the Lowery cottage, all of which allow employees and their families to spend time together and get to know each other on a more personal level. Everyone is able to relax without the stresses of a normal work day and have a good time together.
