Community Involvement
Oral Deaf Program (GROD)
Third grade students from the Oral Deaf Program (GROD) at Shawnee Park School, stop by for a special performance.
The students are very hardworking and are enthusiastic about learning. All of the children experienced a hearing loss that went undetected. Some have been deaf
since birth. The children wear hearing aids or have cochlear implants. The teacher's voice is amplified in the classroom so that all of the students can hear her speak. Language is worked on constantly, as all learning starts with understanding the English language. Tremendous strides are made daily!
